Story, Screenplay & Direction : Hero Tushar falls in love with a girl, who in turn marries another guy. With this he remains single and pursues P.H.D. Meanwhile he meets a girl who is studying in 8th standard; a strong relation develops between them. The girl grows up and starts loving the hero, who cannot digest this fact and slaps her. But having seen this kind of formula before audience slap themselves.
After that the story goes like the films of Balanchander, K.Vishwanath and Balu Mahindra and finally ends in an orphanage. There are two things the director should remember before handling these kind of subjects. Firstly, we should mentally prepare the audience before going to the film. Next is concentrating on the main theme of the story.
Patnaik didn’t concentrate on these two things. As a director he may be having many beautiful things in mind, but it’s not necessary that the audience should like it. The taking part is very gratifying. If a good subject was given, Patnaik can handle it very well and prove his mettle as a director.
Music : R.P's music is strong point for this film. Every song in this film is melodious. The song ‘Andhala chandamama’ is a visual delight, and is not only excellent but its picturisation also has been tastefully done.
Others : Photography is another strong point; it showcases the talent of the camera man. Dialogues are mediocre.
Artists Performances :
Rajeev : Hero Rajeev is moderate. Even though it is his first film he has done a good job.
Archana : Main heroine Archana who looks similar to Bollywood actress Rimmi Sen has a promising future, she acted very well. Another heroine Ramya is good looking and her acting is passable.
Others : Chintajallu Lakshmipathy, who recently expired is another main attraction for the film. His comedy role has generated laughter. Benerjee, Suma and Sunil are also enticing in the film.
How is the Movie?
The subject has not been dealt before, what will the hero do after his love failed has created a curiosity among the audience and their main concentration was about the love story. But unexpectedly a school girl comes into his life, the growing affection between them and song on her makes the audience feel that this is some kind of a child sentiment film. After that the film runs on a sociology subject and becomes message oriented. And again after growing up, the girl starts loving the hero; at this point we get a feeling that on one ticket, we are viewing three films on the day of Shivaratri.
There is nothing wrong in the story, but the audience thought they don’t follow values they expect them in the film. Even though the director tried to convince them during the climax, that generated a comedy but of no use.
Final Verdict : This kind of subject proves to be a risky job for a debutant. If Patnaik had chosen a different subject, then he might have tasted success and his talent would not have been wasted.
