Verdict : AVERAGE
2.75/5
Story, Screenplay & Direction : Vishwak (Raja) grows up with only one dream of meeting his childhood friend (Genelia). The girl re-enters his life after a few years and now his only aim is to make her fall in love with him. In this process he learns the value of Human relations.
The story loses grip after sometime and the trademark Neelakanta style is no where to be seen. There is nothing wrong in doing all kind of films. But keeping in mind his previous films, Neelakanta should have shown his screenplay magic, and would have been successful . Screenplay is not that great as expected and even the audience can guess the other half of the film by the interval time. But he did not compromise in the taking and technical values of the film which are excellent.
Music : As usual Chakri‘s music is just an average one. There is not much to talk about it.
Artists Performance :
Raja : Raja is seen better to his earlier films. His hair style is bad.
Genelia : Genelia gave a matured performance in the climax of the film. But her make-up has been Overdone. In the climax of the film her make-up has been worse.
Others : M. S. Narayana and Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam's comedy roles are good. Sonu Sood's performance is average.
How is the Movie?
Somewhere there is a loophole in the film. From the starting of the film, hero just lives on materialism but this doesn't’t affect anyone. He makes his living with his tricky words and in this regard he is a real Medhavi. But Sonu Sood who earns a lot keeps telling that human relations are more important. And we should not be calculated in case of human beings. If a middle class person has 1 lakh rupees, he’s in dilemma whether calculatedly he should send his sister to US or give value to human relations and get his mother operated. Without harming the other person there is no mistake in tricking people to earn a living. People have enjoyed the hero’s ways of tricking but in the end when this is shown as a mistake the audience were unable to digest it.
The title 'Mr.Medhavi' itself suggests that this is some sort of a Neelakanta style of mind game, and there is nothing wrong in expecting like that. But keeping aside all these, he just joined a human relations subject and a love story. And he has done a mistake in that, except the taking part, there is nothing good including the
screenplay. He has failed completely in delivering the goods.
Final Verdict : Whenever we go to watch a Neelakanta's film, we expect a good screenplay but the director has not given that. The movie may do well in A Centers, buts fail utterly in B and C centers. Disappointingly 'Mr. Medhavi' starts with good expectations and ends with an average talk.
