Verdict : BELOW AVERAGE
2/5
Story, Screenplay & Direction : The story is similar to that of Bapu’s earlier film 'Muthyala Muggu', the theme is same except for the climax. A rich guy (Sunil Sharma) falls in love with a poor girl (Prema), they get married and give birth to a girl, Charmee (pinky). Due to some family disturbances they get separated and Charmee grows with her mother. After growing up Charmee goes to her father’s village to unite her parents. How Charmee gets her parents closer and how she tackles with the bad people forms the final crux of the story.
The theme is same as that of 'Muthyala Muggu', but how an old concept runs in modern times seems disgusting. This time Bapu bomma is a failure. The titles part is very good, instead of special effects, hand drawn designs has been used. By seeing this we feel that the film is very good and tastefully done, but it’s a total disappointment. In this film, Prema’s role is given more weightage than Charmee’s, we can say that Prema is the heroine. Bapu tried his best to highlight Charmee but failed. Screenplay is dull, sometimes it goes fast like ‘Vishaka Express’ and sometimes slow like ‘Muthyala Muggu '.
Music : Music is average, but cannot viewed on screen. By listening to the lyrics of the songs, one can fall asleep in the theater. Vidyasagar must have thought about Bapu’s direction and must have rendered music according to that.
Artists Performance : Charmee’s role and performance is not appreciated much. No one knows why Charmee has taken up this project after the successful Mantra. She may get many good chances instead. Even Charmee’s hardcore fans could not digest her role in the film.
Allari Naresh : Naresh’s role is totally a supporting character. He could not fit the bill as a journalist. His character is there just for name sake and there is not much depth in it.
Others : Kota Srinivas Rao as a politician who played a negative role. Few pranks between Charmee and him are ok. Prema looks like Charmee’s elder sister, not like her mother. Prema and Sunil Sharma’s characters has been used more than Charmee’s mainly for the story purpose.
How is the movie?
Except Charmee who is being portrayed a Bapu bomma, nothing is there in the film. In this film there are no good dialogues like “Pelli Pustakam” and heroine is not shown beautifully like that in 'Muthyala Muggu'. Bapu’s previous film Radha Gopalam is better comparatively. There is no place for old fashioned and village stories in present times. Bapu’s film is said be colorful but this is like a black white film. The story would have been highlighted if there were few strong scenes. Make-up and costumes are also old fashioned. This kind of film must have been done some seven years back and that too not with Charmee. Mullapudi Venkata Ramana’s dialogues are average. There is not much comedy suiting the present genre.
Final Verdict : This movie is an average flick in case of class audience and mass audience cannot even digest the film. Instead of 'Sundarakanda', the film should have been named ‘Amma Nanna O Ammayi’. People who like Bapu’s style may watch it, others may happily avoid it.
